Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry with Tamari

Tender strips of beef with crisp vegetables in a savoury tamari and ginger sauce. Quick, gluten-free, and better than takeaway.

Ingredients

  • 300g (10 oz) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons tamari
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds, for serving
  • Steamed rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. 1. Whisk together tamari, honey, sesame oil, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. 2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large pan over very high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook without stirring for 2 minutes until seared. Toss and cook for 1 more minute. Remove and set aside.
  3. 3. In the same pan, stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds. Add broccoli and carrot and cook for 3 minutes. Add the bell pepper and cook for 2 more minutes.
  4. 4. Return beef to the pan. Pour over the sauce and toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
  5. 5. Serve over steamed rice with sesame seeds.
