Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

Tender strips of beef and crisp broccoli in a savoury, glossy stir fry sauce. A classic Chinese-American takeaway dish made at home in under 25 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 300g (10 oz) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Steamed rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. 1. Mix oyster sauce, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. 2. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain.
  3. 3. Heat oil in a wok or large pan over very high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook for 2 minutes without stirring. Toss and cook for 1 minute more. Remove.
  4. 4. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger and stir fry for 30 seconds. Add broccoli and toss for 1 minute.
  5. 5. Return beef and pour over the sauce. Toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until the sauce is glossy and thickened. Serve over rice.
